Professor Bijendra Patel is a Consultant Surgeon at UCLH and Barts Health NHS Trust London. His clinical expertise includes Laparoscopic Surgery & Upper GI Surgery.
He is a world leader in integrating technology enhanced learning for surgical education. In October 2005, he pioneered this concept & created the world’s first Masters course in acquiring surgical skills by virtual reality simulation (MSc Surgical Skills and Sciences) at Queen Mary University of London to “Globalise And Fast-Track Surgical Training”
His main research interests include surgical simulation as a tool for acquisition and retention of surgical skills.
He is also founder of Society of Surgical Simulation and Journal of Surgical Simulation which, is the first academic journal dedicated to publishing research in the fields of surgical simulation.
Prof Patel is passionate about technology enhanced learning & has shared his expertise as invited speaker, international chair and faculty at various conferences globally.
